During our travels in South America, English was not always spoken nor were the English speaking people always understanding of what we were saying. (Most probably our Aussie accents confused them). We did our best with learning a selection of Spanish phrases and words to get us by however.....it never occurred to us to learn 'hot tea with milk on the side' in spanish. Beverages such as coffee, pisco sours, beer etc were all the go but never a good old hot cup of tea with milk. We had a bit of a giggle one night when we ordered room service via a very limited English speaking room attendant. We love doing this because you just never know what you're going get.....a bit like Forrest's box of chocolates really......anyhow, we got some sort of sandwich delivered with yes wait for it....tea with milk! Yes tea bags with a pot of mildly warm milk. Not the nicest thing to drink I must say....but hey they tried! We perservered throughout our journey until the very last day we spoke to another Aussie who enlightened us with the phrase 'Té con Leche'.....arrrhh at last a great cuppa! :)
